Ali Cannon, a Jewish transgender man who identified as a butch dyke for almost twenty years, is a writer of short stories, poetry and theatre pieces. He appeared in and is the Assistant Producer of the film, Its A Boy: Journeys from Female to Male. His writing is published in the anthology, Secret Sisters: Stories of Being Lesbian and Bisexual in a College Sorority (Alyson Books, 2001). A piece he co-authored with TJ Michels entitled Whose Side Are You On? Transgender at the Western Wall, will be published in the upcoming anthology of Queer Jews, Heeding Isaiahs Call (Routledge, July 2002). Locally he has appeared in numerous productions at Luna Sea writing, performing and producing the Queer Jewish bi-annual show, Chutzpah. He has also performed at Theatre Rhinoceros in the show Ego Alter Ego, directed by Kira Simring. He will be performing this month in Transmen Tell Their Tales an FTM show at Luna Sea (March 22nd & 23rd; March 29th & 30th). Most importantly, Ali celebrates his life as a newlywed he is still qvelling (glowing with pride) over his marriage to his beautiful bisexual wife, Jessica, who has been an amazing supportive partner in his transition process.
