Barb Cavoto as B.J. — Drag King

B.J. began performing drag in the early 80’s in numerous variety and benefit shows. Originally from Chicago via Southern Illinois, B.J. arrived in SF in 1989.

In 1994, B.J. was voted San Francisco’s First Official Drag King at a contest held at the Eagle Tavern. B.J. appeared on the cover of The Official 1995 Drag King Calendar, with photos by Chloe Atkins, and in Details Magazine. Since then, B.J. has performed at the Folsom Street Fair, opened for Four Non Blondes and performed at Wigstock San Francisco.

Barb is a visual artist and landscape designer. She is currently preparing for an art opening on March 28th at 584 Castro Street, featuring a collection of her drawings, paintings and sculpture.
