DJ Mermaid can be found spinning in clubs, art events (both over- and underground), weddings, out in the street, under the stars and in the datasphere. A proud member of the S.F. electronica underground for over 10 years, she has managed to avoid arrest, electrocution, and sleeplessness psychosis. Sainted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for her good spinning works, Mermaid frequently appears at queer and alternative-sexuality cultural events both large and small. She has been thrilled to DJ for the GLBT Historical Society, GLAAD, Queen of Heaven, San Francisco Sex Information, the AIDS Hero Awards and the SF Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day Parade and Celebration, among others. Catch her again this year in the Radical Faeries Faerie Freedom Village on Sunday, and out in the street on Pink Saturday! Mermaid loves a wide variety of music and spins many styles, sometimes mixing an eclectic blend of musical genres, sometimes working within one style. Her sounds currently include funk & rare groove, vintage lounge and early stereo music, desertronica, ambient, downtempo electronica, world music (both ethnic music and fusion) and others. Equally at home at elegant receptions as on the beach, Mermaid can bring her enchanting music and mobile sound system to your event or party, and especially enjoys unusual, creative events. DJ Mermaid can be heard spinning vintage lounge on the third Tuesday of each month at The Cocktail Hour at Club Deluxe, SF.
