Sean Dorsey was invited to San Francisco last summer to dance at the SF International Butoh Festival. Since relocating here, Sean has performed critically acclaimed self-choreographed work at ODC Theater, Dance Mission / Lesbian and Gay Dance Festival, and the Jon Sims Center. Sean is currently working on a small class of words, a solo work that intricately builds layers of scientific and semantic structures of classification and revels in the minutiae of our invented ways of seeing, naming, and gendering.
Sean is also a member of Lizz Roman and Dancers, and has collaborated and performed in Cell Dance and 8 1/2 x 11. Previous work includes performance with Kokoro Dance, SMcK Dance, Eye of Newt, and Blinded by Vision, as well as collaborations with film and video makers, photographers, musicians, and spoken word artists.
Sean is looking for other trans/genderqueer/intersex performers and especially dance artists for project collaboration.
Look for Sean in the remount of 8 1/2 x 11 at ODC Theater in mid-May (ODC box office: 863-9834.)
